Band Biographies:
JIM WOOLSEY
Jim Woolsey’s rich and magnetic vocal chords almost went unnoticed. The songster kept his singing ability to himself all the way up until his high school years. An spill of lyrics uttered under Jim's breath in a friend’s car encouraged Woolsey to pursue singing. Woosley took to singing like a duck to water. His bravura and soulful vocal ability hasn’t been silenced since that one fateful car ride.
While growing into his career as a musician Jim quickly picked up playing the guitar. Unlike some brand crafted singers, Woolsey’s ability to transcend from a just a vocalist to a singer, songwriter and guitarist was natural - not created. The first song Jim Woolsey penned was titled Change. It was a symbolic label for not only his growth as a musician up to that point in his life, but the expansion of his talents and where they would lead him in the future.
Jim Woolsey’s family tree hasn’t hindered his talent either. Jim comes from a family of music professionals. His grandfather played piano and violin. In the 1940’s his grandfather was even afforded the prestige honor of being part of The Packard Orchestra. Other Woolsey kin are custom to singing too. His musical roots spawned an apple that fell not far from the tree, and he holds the vocal talents to uproot the family tree to a bigger lot of land.
Woolsey is one of the founding members of Cody Stagefright. His role as singer, with contributing guitar parts, has grown with Cody Stagefright since 2006.
DEREK HARRINGTON
Derek Harrington can be compared to Red Hot Chili Pepper’s guitarist John Frusciante. Harrington’s ability to alter sound and produce a unique flavor through various techniques imprints a familiar "Frusciante-esque" feel to his role as lead guitarist in Cody Stagefright.
At fifteen years of age, when most teenagers are looking forward to getting their driver’s license, Harrington was more occupied with his neighbor’s acoustic guitar. Now, over a decade later, Derek has proven his ability as a talented musician by participating as both a bassist and electric guitarist in several bands.
One of the bands was Full Flood. Full Flood was an experimental/progressive/alternative rock quartet featuring Jim Woolsey (also now of Cody Stagefright) during the band’s initial inception.
Derek’s taste for music is just as diverse as his talents. Funk rock, contemporary rock, experimental music, electronic music, you name it and Derek has or can play it. Harrington was introduced to Cody Stage fright a little over a year ago. Shortly after starting to play with Cody Stagefright, Derek began influencing the band’s sound as not only the lead guitarist but as a contributing writer. Harrington’s notable influence expanded the band’s increasing fan base. Derek also helped to cultivate the direction of Cody Stagefright's music.
Derek’s taste for the eclectic, such as Bjork and Frank Zappa, blends suitably with his love of Pearl Jam and War. This diverse musician not only brings his signature sound to Cody Stagefright, but in doing so illustrates the influences of his musical upbringing.
CHRIS OLIVER
A musician at heart, Chris Oliver started keeping a beat before he was of age to attend Kindergarten. A multi-talented instrumentalist, Oliver is more than a triple threat. His experience with the bass, guitar, keyboards and drums is awe-inspiring to anyone. Add in his singing ability and one has a recipe for a star in the making.
Oliver co-founded The Shut up and Dies with Mike Carroll. The project didn’t last but Oliver’s persistence continued on. Chris developed a solo album in 2004 entitled Living Alone. This solo album was a reference to Syd Barrett as Living Alone is also the title of an unreleased Barrett track.
As Chris became more dedicated to developing a musical sound that would fulfill his artistic appetite he came into contact with Jim Woolsey around 2006. The two shared a vision. Their collaboration launched the beginning of Cody Stagefright.
Oliver also has played drums in an indie band called Cotton Lilly. Furthermore Chris Oliver has released six solo albums known as The Solar System.
Already a very busy man, Ugly Face / Ugly Town was the last solo album of The Solar System. Ugly Face / Ugly Town was recently released in 2008 by Nobody Likes You But Us. The independent record label, Nobody Likes You But Us, is also another side project of Oliver’s and Joseph Paris. Years after sparking his many musical talents in his mother’s basement and learning all the drum parts in the family’s record collection, Chris Oliver’s persistence and talent has surely helped to fuel the fire of Cody Stagefright.
CHRIS "Volcano" FORTSON

During his development as a solo artist Chris took on the role of Volcano in a rap group out of Detroit called Natural Disasters. Though his time spent with this group was a great opportunity, Fortson ended up returning to his roots as a solo artist.

As if all of the hats Chris Fortson wears isn’t enough, he is also an accomplished mix engineer.
